Who is responsible
Markon Global (Pty) Ltd, registration 2026/011426/07, is the responsible party for the personal information described here, as that term is used in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). GloMilBil is the product; Markon Global (Pty) Ltd is the company behind it.
This covers the GloMilBil website and the GloMilBil reading app.
This website collects nothing
The site you are reading sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and carries no third party tracking of any kind. There is no advertising pixel, no session recorder and no visitor counter. It has no forms, so there is nothing to submit. The typefaces are served from this site itself rather than from a font network, so loading the page does not announce your visit to anyone else.
Our hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs, as any web host does. We do not build profiles from them.
What the app holds
The app needs an account, and an account means we hold some information about you. Specifically:
- Your account. A display name, an email address, the reading level or age group the account is set to, the country you select, and your language preferences.
- Your reading. Which stories you have opened, how far through them you are, whether you finished, and any rating you give.
- Your answers. Your quiz attempts and the answers you write in your own words, along with the marks and the passage quoted back to you.
- What you looked for. Which stories were shown to you, which filters you used, and searches that returned nothing. We use the last of these to decide which stories to write next.
That last point is worth being plain about. The website does not track you, but the app does record what you do inside it, against your account. It is used to run the product and to choose what to make next. It is not sold, it is not shared with advertisers, and there is no advertising network involved at any point.
Who else processes it
We use a small number of operators, and only these:
- Supabase, which stores the database and runs sign in.
- Vercel, which hosts the website and the app.
- Google, whose Gemini model marks the answers you write and explains words you select while reading. The text of that answer or selection is sent to Google to be processed and comes back marked. This means some of what you write is processed outside South Africa.
There is no one else. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.
Readers under eighteen
An account for anyone under eighteen is held by an adult. This is not a setting a child can change: the database itself refuses to store a child’s account unless it is attached to an adult account holder, and the adult confirms they are consenting on the child’s behalf when the account is set up.
The adult who holds the account can ask us for anything in this document on the child’s behalf, including deletion. Where a leaderboard or a shared surface shows a name, it shows the chosen display handle rather than a child’s own name.
Your rights under POPIA
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your account and what is attached to it;
- stop processing your information for a particular purpose.
Write to Markon Global (Pty) Ltd at Plot 260, 55 Sea Cottage Drive, Randjesfontein, Midrand, Gauteng, 1683. We will answer.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa, which is the body that supervises POPIA.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and your reading history for as long as the account exists, because that history is the product: the point of it is to show you what you have built up over months. When you ask us to delete an account, we delete it.
Changes
If we change what we do with personal information, we change this page and change the date at the top of it. If the change is a significant one, we will say so rather than leave you to notice.
